Hol-ee-day, just for me!

Hurro Efurryone! It me, Ludo!

I told you I was going camping right? Well something really exciting happened after camping at the agility show. My TND turned up and instead of going home and the people’s going back to work we went to a hotel! Mum and TND said it be a trip just for me because we has not beed on a hol-ee-day for a while and I love going to hotels!

First of all, I had a nice time camping. I did not get to do agility, but I got to go on some walks and hang out with Mum and I got to sit and watch whilst she helped on a ring and watch some other dogs and bark at them. We made our tent nice and cozy although Mum did not let me sleep on her pillow like I really thought I should. It rained a lot on the Saturday but me and Arran didn’t get wet, only Mum and it dried for us to go for a walk and cook Mum’s dinner. Mum and Arran didn’t really get their act together to do any winnings but Arran did manage to get one 5th place rosette and it does be a very big show with 10 rings so Mum thinks he did well. (Of course, I got 3 rosettes last year…)

The show just in between Cumbria and Lancashire and it on the canal for nice walkies.

There be lots of shelties there. Can you spot us?

We beed very happy to see TND. I love staying in hotels and we stayed in a very nice little Inn in Kirkby-Lonsdale called The Sun Inn

We had our own goody bag in our room

The peoples bed did be very comfy and we had a nice quiet room where we didn’t has people walking past so Arran did not do guarding of the door. The Inn had a little section of the dining room just for peoples who wanted to sit with their doggies so we got to eat breakfast and dinner with our pawrents and we got lots of lots of tidbits.

I got duck and fish and chicken and creme brulee. I even got to eat some wheats (I intolerant to wheats)! The people working in the hotel all be very nice to us and of course you has to be nice to them acoss they bring the food!

Give me food!

The next day we went for a walk around the Forest of Bowland, I can still do walkings but I is not very good on runnings as I am too ouchie and I has to go nice and slowly but my peoples doesn’t mind. When we headed to the car me and Arran both said ‘no we wont go!’  and pulled back on our leads. But it ok, because we just went on a walkies and did not go home and we comed back to the hotel again!

Let’s go on an adventure!

Stones from old houses that got removed when a reservoir got made.

We got back to the village and had a late lunch in a dog friendly Cafe called The Crossing Point. I got in everyone’s way but I is pretty sure no one minded. The waiters just stepped over me. Well, you cas not see what be ON the table if you sit under it like Arran does. Kirkby-Lonsdale seemed very dog friendly. It had some nice independent shops which Mum liked to go in and a nice smelly old church to explore and lots of walks around it.

The next morning we explored the village and went down to the River Lune  to see ‘Ruskin’s view’ He thought it be a lovely ‘English’ view of river and pasture.

At the bottom of the ‘Devil’s steps’

I had a super ‘last-trip’ thank you so much to The Sun Inn for letting me and Arran come and stay.

Arran sniffs me all the time now!

Good bye Sun Inn

I wanted to thank all my friends who has gived me power of the paw against the cancer lumps. I is sure it working to keep me comfortable but the vet says nothing can make it go away now, not even good wishes, and I know I has a whole bunch of those. . My ‘golf ball’ in my groin seems to get bigger every day and I has new sores on my front leg. I has some more medicines to keep me ‘comfortable’ but the vet talked with Mum and TND about supporting their decision once they decide that I is not comfortable anymore.

Right now I am happy! Mum says she is not ready to say Goodbye yet so she hopes I can stick around for a bit longer. You know I will do anything for treats right? So I is sure I can do sticking arounds too!

When I went to Oxford

Hurro, Ludo here!

You know, Mum was looking through some of our photos the other day and she realised there a lot of stuff we planned to blog about and she neglected my blog never got around to posting. So here an adventure from 3 and a half years ago, afore Arran comed along, when I went on Holiday to the Cotswolds and visited the city of Oxford.

Oxford a city in the UK and it famous for it’s colleges and big fancy buildings also, it has no cars inside it.

Mini holiday to Overwater hotel

Hurro, it me, Ludo!

I has my stitches out now although I am still a bit sore, my results has not come back yet on account of those bank holiday things over Easter.  So, while we wait I thought I would do tellings of our recent mini hol-ee-day to a place called Overwater hotel.

We just went a little way away, in the Lake District, for Grandma and Mum’s birthdays. We took Dad and Grandpaw and Rusty (Grandpawent’s dog) too.

TND found the Overwater on a list of 10 best pet friendly hotels.  I has already been to one of them, Trigony and now I has been to this one. So there only 8 more to go. Mum says some of those very nice hotels is out of our budget, so  I is happy to settle for going 8 more times to the same ones. Mum?

The Overwater be a very nice ‘Country House hotel’ with big grounds and very nice foods.

On the way there we stopped off for a walk at Whinlatter forest. Whinlatter a very nice place to walk, even when it wet, because the trees protect your furs a bit. The forestry commission closed some of the paths though the trees because of the recent flooding.

It stopped raining near the end so we dried off a bit before we went to one of our most favourite pubs for lunch…

The Pheasant! I had chips! Well, I had some of TND’s chips! We seed an Airedale in there, like our furiends Mitch and Molly.

We arrived at the Overwater and had a very nice greeting from the owners, they seemed very pleased to see us. I knew right away that we beed on a hol-ee-day so I marched right in there and followed the man up to our room. So far so good on the pet friendly (and friendly in general) scores.

Me and Mum and TND and Arran had a big room with a four poster bed. That like a fancy people bed that dogs is not allowed on. They seemed to think it be comfy. I prefer to sleep on the bathroom floor pawsonally, but I has never seed a people do that yet.

Mum got a bath and TND went to the bar with Grandpaw. Arran stood guard at the bathroom door. He always wants to get IN the bath. He a weird, weird, weird, weird-weird dog.

Later Mum tooked us down the stairs to the bar. I had a good vantage point from here.

Hehe! (Dad made me get off)

Long time readers may know that I ALWAYS get on the furniture. E
ver since I beed a little puppy and followed my cat brofur Pepe onto the sofa I has decided if peoples is on the chairs, so should Ludo be! But sometimes Mum says ‘no’, I is not allowed on furniture. Sometimes though, other peoples help me. Likrustye when we went to a restaurant with all Mum’s family and she went to the toilet and when she comed back they had got
me my own chair at the table. Not this time though.

We went to go relax in our room whilst the people went for dinner in the restaurant. Well, Rusty did not relax so he had to go sit in Grandpaw’s car.

The peoples had a very nice meal. Grandma especially enjoyed her food and her special birthday mini hol-ee-day! We even got to try some of Grandpaws steak, they wrapped it up for us. I must admit I did not get to taste it very much, on account of me eating it very quickly, but it sure smelled amazing.

The next day we explored the Overwater’s grounds. It has a nice wooded walkway.

Until the next 8 times (don’t shake your head at me Mum!) This concludes our mini hol-ee-day.

Have you been to any dog or pet friendly hotels lately? We’d love to hear about it in the comments.

Trip to Trigony and the Multiverse

Hurro, Ludo here!

I bet you is wondering what a Trigony and a Multiverse be?

They places in Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland where we went a few weeks ago for a weekend away.

trigony2 DSC_0922

I has been to Trigony afore with Mum and TNP, back when he still be the new person and we has wanted to go back ever since. It a very dog friendly hotel and does very nice food so it has things we all like!

We got a very nice welcome box from our dog hosts and we had a very big room with our own garden too! It a lovely peaceful relaxing place.

Our Garden

DSC_0908 DSC_0907

Although I is always the best boy, Arran did pretty well at not barking at the noises of other guests and not getting scared of things.

Trigony be a great place because they let us join our pawrents for breakfast and dinner in the bar, we met other dog guests too.

DSC_0913 DSC_0918

DSC_0917I taught Arran to pretend to be all nonchalant and pretend we is not interested in the other diners’s food until the waitress comes with our people’s food. Then we can say ‘oh we be so good’ and get some of theirs.

He learned pretty fast!

We had a nice time relaxing in our room and garden. Mum sat outside with us and did some cross stitching (she been working on that thing forever and I doesn’t think it getting any bigger and sometimes it get called ‘oh buggar’)

In the mornings we be joined by the resident dog Roxy, I met her last time I comed too. Here I be reminding my TNP he should be stroking me and not Roxy.

Last time we comed to Trigony we went to a very cool sculpture park that the people liked a lot and I did not so much cos I did barkings at the statues. (I is a bit older and wiser now) They thought about going there, but then the people at Trigony told us about a new place what opened called the Cawick Multiverse, so we decided to go there.

It be really great! It a place that used to be a coal mine and it been restored by the Duke and an artist called Charles Jencks, it represents things that are up in space. We has a very nice autumn day for our visit and we had a lot of fun not obeying the guidelines by running up and down the spirals of the galaxy instead of going round and round them. Arran especially liked doing that! Also it had lots of different textures and things at different heights to explore. Dog paradise! If you ever get the chance to go, we really recommend it. I rolled around really well at the top of Andromeda, just so future dog visitors know I was there first!

Maybe in 100’s of years people will come along and wonder what all these strange rocks mean? Maybe they’ll find a fossilised Ludo hair and wonder about that too?

We had a very wonderful trip and I casnot wait to go on the next one!

~Lickies, Ludo!

Pee ess: In other news, I had to have a little lump removed, which got diagnosed as a hot spot a few months ago, but Mum worried as it had changed and so the vet agreed we’d get it taken off. I had to go be left at the vets and has a surgery! I did be a bit worried when the vet carried me off, but Mum comed back for me after all. I get my stitches out Friday and the results then too. I hate the stitches, so I has to wear the cone now, but I doesn’t mind bashing that into people. Only, Arran does be a bit worried and keeps sniffing me and trying to lick my front legs where they put the needles in me, so we all keeps telling him off. Mum says he like Piglet, only I doesn’t know what that mean.

We also has some family staying with us, so we behind in blogging again.

Pee pee ess: Congratulations to Jo, who won our Discover Dogs tickets. We hope you enjoyed it!

Hol-ee-day in Lancashire and poppies!

Hurro, Ludo here! A few weeks ago we went on Hol-ee-day (Holiday / vacation) to Lancashire, in the UK, we stayed in the Arnside and Silverdale area of outstanding natural beauty. I did not decide that, that just what it called. We had a very nice time and we all did lots of walkings and relaxings. It a very dog friendly place to has a hol-ee-day and we had a great time!

Just afore that Mum and TND went to London to visit family and we stayed at Grandpawents.

They went to go see the poppy display at the Tower of London whilst they be there.

2014-12-06 DSC_0300 DSC_0307

And they went out for some people sushi food.

Then they comed to get us from Grandpawents and off we went to hol-ee-day.

Hol-ee-day in Yorkshire!

Yes, we went about 4 weeks ago and I is just now getting Mum to type it up for me! Disgraceful! Mum and TND went away the weekend afore and we stayed at Grandpawents, so we really needed to be having a nice time on hol-ee-day!

So, that why Arran might has shrunk since you last seed him.

We stayed in a very nice little cottage in Swaledale, Yorkshire. I has never beed to Yorkshire. It much the same as other Shires, I has beed to since we stayed in a cottage and went for nice walks, only a bit wetter. We found it here. It had it’s kitchen and bathroom downstairs and it’s living room and bedroom upstairs. It had a very big garden too!

We got there pretty late on the first day and Mum spent most of the night trying to get my stupid little bro-fur to do a wee outside. Anyway, he eventually got the hang of it and when we woke up in the morning we found a whole new stream in our garden.

DSC_0238 DSC_0239 DSC_0237

So we snoozed for a bit. Now we were not allowed on the furniture. But we were also not allowed in the bedroom and Mum said she had ‘no hope’ of stopping us, so like always, we just put our own covers on the sofas. Normally I would not let Arran be so close to me, but I be tired from my long journey.

We found a sheltie height window! Arran really like it a lot! He like doing gruff gruff barking out the window. TND says ‘No gruffing’ to him.

DSC_0241 DSC_0242 DSC_0268 DSC_0269

We love our TND! We had a nice fire. We wented out for some walks too! Some a bit wet.

DSC_0249 DSC_0254 DSC_0252 DSC_0251 DSC_0262

This usually be a path! Arran did be a bit scared!DSC_0260 DSC_0258

He had to go back on the lead when we went past sheep or cows.DSC_0263 DSC_0264

Another ‘path’.

We came to one bit which we could not get past at all and we had to climb along a wall. Mum got scared cos she dipped her stick into the water on either side and it kept on going. I went across with TND and then I got scared too and he had to carry me, then he comed back and Mum passed him Arran and then he had to come and hold Mum’s hand. She crawled along so she had 4 paw drive like us. No photos, too scary! Then we went to a little cafe and had some lunch but Arran gotted a bit cold so Mum tucked him up in her coat on the way back. I bet he casnot fit in there now!DSC_0267

We got some sunshine too. DSC_0312

DSC_0309 DSC_0307 DSC_0306 DSC_0305 DSC_0301 DSC_0299DSC_0275 DSC_0274

We went to Malham cove.DSC_0288 DSC_0291 DSC_0285 DSC_0279 DSC_0277 DSC_0276 1399718_512693382163072_368214628_o

We found a very nice dog friendly place to have lunch in… or rather, out. But we could have gone in if we wanted! It called the Lister Arms Hotel

DSC_0295DSC_0292 DSC_0293

Mum and TND had very nice sandwiches and we had some of TND’s ham.

We seed this big viaduct for trains. (Mum thinks this the Carlisle to Settle line)

Did some posing.DSC_0317

And met a goat!DSC_0319 DSC_0318

Arran thinks hol-ee-days be very good. Maybe I will let him come on another one?

~Lickies, Ludo

Pee ess: I is gonna spend this week in ‘catch up on blogs mode’. Plus I has to tell you all about the exciting news. Crispmas coming again!! It all Arran’s fault because Mum has to ‘watch him’ all the time or else she turns around and some ‘not yours’ has beed killed. To think! I would never do that!
