After Christmas catch up

Hurry Efurryone!

DSC_1496Our guests all left a couple of days ago and they has all moved back in together into their very own home, here in Cumbria, so we will still get to see them lots. Moving from one side of the country to another seems to take a lot of effort. I thinks I’ll stay here forever! I is pleased to have the house back to ourselves, although I think Arran will miss them a lot, especially this little thing. We looked after Poppy for a week whilst the peoples did all the important packing stuff for their move. All they did was play all day. I had to do tellings off of them quite a lot.

Cousin Ben did not be sure he wanted to go! He and Auntie Toni has beed living with us for about 2 months now. He has really perfected that sad labralook. (And the stealing of all our toys, I thinks he takes one out into the garden everyday, and you know, I cannot play with it if it has other dog slobber on! Or drink from the same water.) Anyway, they has all settled into their new home now.

But… I live here now?

DSC_1375We had a very nice, busy Crispmas again. We had four dogs and seven people, including us staying here and we had to go visit grandpawents and TND’s family too. I had a very happy Crispmas. Although I did not eat my dinner I got lots of treats and turkey.DSC_1379

We got a stocking with a toy each and some treats left on the bed for us, that the easiest way to know it finally Crispmas day. I open mine and then I help Mum and TND open theirs. They really like that. Who doesn’t like to has tooth marks in their presents? Usually though they does not have anything very interesting, where as we got a sausage each!

We went round to Grandparents, where Rusty be dressed as Santa Paws. That Dog next to him be Lily, she Auntie Tricia’s new dog. Auntie Tricia went to grandpawents house for dinner too. Arran and I did not really like Lilly, she beed frightened of us. Hehe! She a really squiggly bouncy puppy, just the kind I has to do tellings off to.

Later we went back to our house and opened more presents with Auntie Toni and co. Poppy did not really understand the whole Crispmas thing. I think I understood it right away, even when I did be a little rabbit-dog. Then we went to TND’s family and we got even more presents. Everyone bought us presents because we is special.

We had lots of presents to open as TND’s little niece person be 3 now, she had picked us some presents herself. She chose treats and a stag bar, doesn’t that be clever? She calls me Uncle Ludo now. Arran got a bit (very) frightened because he thinks christmas crackers is going to kill him and he had to be picked up on Mum and TND’s lap once they had gone bang at the dinner table and he got soo upset. So they has had to be banned in our house now.

But I had a very nice time and that all that really matters, right?
He did relax enough to come play some games later though. For some reason we kept getting moved out the way when we walked all over these thingies. Human games seem to be very complicated. They had to move these cards over and match them up. It not as good as tug, or bitey face. I think a much more fun game for them would have been taking turns to  stroke Ludo all the time. Don’t you?

Having lots of extra family around sure means we got a good haul this year. Mum only got us about three things!

Hope you had just as nice a time as we did!

~Lickies, Ludo!

pee ess: I is feeling very well and energetic now. I had another couple of days of not feeling great and being sick a lot, but since everyone went home I am feeling really happy! I do like things to be normal.

The Wedding!

Hurro! It me Ludo! Here be the long promised wedding post. Only 3 months after it happened. It might get long! Mum did be in two minds about posting this, but, since some of our very dear friends have waited so patiently she decided to share.

We had lots of visitors to our house in the days afore the wedding, lots of comings and goings and busy peoples and we went to the groomers.

Our pawrents got married in a hotel in the Lake District, so we all travelled down and stayed there together the day before like a mini hol-ee-day. The hotel allowed dogs in some bedrooms and Me and Arran were supposed to stay in Grandpawents room, but actually we stayed in the bridesmaid’s room on the first night instead. The bridesmaids were two of Mum’s nieces Abi and Georgina who come and stay with us at our house sometimes with their Mum and we like them a lot, and of course, they like us a lot too! Mum and TND had decided that we would be at the wedding with them, but we did not has a ‘job’ in the wedding. Firstly, we did not be allowed into those parts of the hotel where the ceremony be, but more importantly, we (well, mostly Arran) would has got really stressed and worried about all the people and not knowing what going on and I would has totally wanted all the attentions on me. So we went and stayed with our family, but we stayed out of the busy ‘wedding’ parts.

What do you think we're doing here then Ludo?

What do you think we’re doing here then Ludo?

We had a look around the place and it beed a hot day! We had lots of grounds to explore and a very nice room with a nice cool bathroom and comfy beds. Whilst Mum and TND unpacked and sorted things out, Grandpawents, Auntie Toni and the bridesmaids tooked us into town for some lunch. Mum and TND seemed a bit stressy, usually they is very relaxed on hol-ee-day.

All around Ennerdale

Hurro, it me, Ludo!

Long time readers may has noticed that we go walk at a particular lake called Ennerdale quite a lot?

It nearby and very pretty, and quite quiet because a lot of the regular Lake District tourists doesn’t go that way and TND’s Mum lived there before she went to the Bridge so we could go for cups of tea after walking and she never minded how muddy we got.

We went a different route this time. Usually we park up, walk along the front of the lake, go for a swim, then go for a walk in the surrounding woods. (paw prints) or sometimes we walk along one side and back, or we has also parked up a stream called Smithy Beck and gone down to the lake that way. (the yellow two different routes)

A couple of weeks ago Mum decided that she has lived in Cumbria long enough (she used to be a southerner) that she should have climbed Scafell Pike by now. Scafell Pike be the highest mountain in England and nearly every Cumbrian Mum meets has gone up it, so she said she must too, to be a proper Cumbrian. TND looked a bit sceptical, since Mum not really the climby, adventurous type. I does not think me and Mum has ever climbed a real mountain! TND said we had better get in training with more challenging walks (for Mum) first… so this weekend we walked ALL the way around Ennerdale. It about 7 miles and some bits is a little climby and stoney. Mum only tooked her phone for photos, but here you is.

When we set off it beed very misty, but it lifted in the valley and it beed mostly sunny, still frosty in places and some wet bits still frozen, Mum told me to walk like a penguin cos that how you not slip apparently. I has four paw drive so I did ok and Arran never seems to complain about anything! We just had one scary bit where we had to climb down a steep bit called Anglers Crag (we should has gone up, not down Arran new the right way, but he followed us. Mum worried about the slippy rocks, so she sat down and kind of scooted down.) Me and Arran could not make the step across, but it ok, TND and mum helped us.

The mist came in some parts, but it never came right down so we could see the pretty scenery all the time. Arran does not be in all the photos cos he likes to go off to the sides to has a good sniff around, or he stays with Mum or goes ahead, he is always trot trot trot all over the place. I is a wise growed up dog now and I knows to conserve my energy.DSC_0023

The people who in charge of looking after Ennerdale put big stones along the path wherever a stream comes down into the lake so people can still use the paths. We think the steppy stones be really fun, just like natural agility. On this walk we did not has too much trouble with the streams, they probably all frozen higher up, but it can get VERY wet!

Of course, we stopped for lunch/snacks when we got half way round. TND gived us that whole bag, even though he not supposed to. That just one reason why I love him!  We did the second half a lot quicker cos it not steep and it be proper paths for people with wheelchairs or prams. You can see the field we stopped in on the last pic.

I sure hopes you enjoyed my tour around Ennerdale! One of the stars in the map piccure goes into the water. That’s cos I went into the water! Mum did not let me has a good swim though, in case my legs be tired. I still did not want to get back in the car though!

Sheltie Shin-dig – part 1

Hello, Dee here, taking over the blog for a couple of posts. Over New Year we had a very special event! The Elanmore people (Elanmore is Ludo and Arran’s kennel name, if you are new to the blog) – Katharine, Laura and Jack, came on holiday near us again and so we got to have a couple of Sheltie meets! They brought their dogs; Becky and Charlie who’ve been on the blog before and Arran’s litter sister Beryl and his younger sister Phoebe! We were also joined in this part by his younger brother Foxy (Phoebe and Foxy are litter mates) and Foxy’s owners Anna and Bob, they also live in Cumbria. It was a real sheltie fest and lots of fun! Anna showed us some photos of her previously beloved shelties, one was very like Ludo, and it was wonderful hearing all about them, they really do seem to be a breed that stays in your heart.

Foxy, Phoebe, Arran, Ludo, Beryl, Becky and Charlie!

I asked Katharine what all their kennel club name’s were so they are… “Foxy’s name is Elanmore Encore, Phoebe’s Elanmore Exactly Right, Arran’s Elanmore Beach Boy, Ludo’s Elanmore Blue Flash, Beryl’s Elanmore Beach Babe (of course after you wanted to name Arran Beach Boy it had to be!) and Becky’s is Elanmore Royal Empress.” Poor Charlie got half cut off the photo! I’d look out for Beryl and Phoebe’s name as I think they are going to start showing soon. 🙂
